Color Notes

Your notes stay yours.

Color Notes is a fast, offline-first note-taking app for Android and iOS. Write in color, organize with labels, and — if you choose — back up to your own cloud drive. Your notes never pass through a Color Notes server.

01About the app

Color Notes lets you capture notes with a color palette, labels, pinning, search, and sort — all stored on your device and working fully offline. Optional cloud backup keeps a copy of your notes in a dedicated /ColorNotes/ folder inside your own Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, or Dropbox account, so you can restore them on another device.

We do not run any server that stores your notes or your account. The only data the app keeps on a server we control is a small, anonymous free-trial record (see section 06). This page is both the app's homepage and its privacy policy.

02Privacy Policy — your data stays on your own drive

User data, including all Google Drive sync data, is stored strictly on the user's own private cloud drive and is never sent to any third-party server. Color Notes has no backend for your notes. Your notes live on your device and, only when you enable backup, in the private cloud account you sign into. We never receive, transmit, sell, or share your notes.

03Google user data

If you connect Google Drive, Color Notes uses Google OAuth 2.0 to request the minimum access needed:

  • drive.file — read and write only the files Color Notes itself creates in your Drive (the /ColorNotes/ folder). The app cannot see any of your other Drive files.
  • userinfo.email — read your account email address, shown in the app so you know which account is connected.

Your Drive files created by the app remain in your Google Drive, governed by Google's terms. The email address is stored on your device only and is never transmitted to us or to anyone else.

Limited Use disclosure. Color Notes' use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. We do not use Google user data for advertising, and we do not transfer it to third parties except as needed to provide the backup feature you request (into your own Drive).

04Sign-in & tokens

You authenticate directly with Google, Microsoft, or Dropbox — never with us — so we never see your password. The resulting access tokens are held only in your device's secure storage (iOS Keychain / Android Keystore), are never logged, and are never sent to us. Disconnect a provider at any time in the app's Settings, or revoke access from your Google/Microsoft/Dropbox account's connected-apps page.

05Subscriptions

Color Notes offers an optional Pro subscription, processed by the Google Play or Apple App Store billing systems — we never see or handle your payment details. Subscription status is managed through our provider, RevenueCat, which receives a random app-generated identifier and your purchase status (not your name, email, or card).

06Free-trial record & app integrity

New installs get a 7-day free trial of Pro. To stop the trial from being restarted by uninstalling and reinstalling the app, Color Notes keeps one small record per device in Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore), which acts as our data processor.

  • What is stored: a device identifier (on Android, the app-specific Android ID; on iOS, a random identifier generated by the app), the date your trial started, the record's creation time, and the platform (Android or iOS).
  • What is not stored: your notes, name, email address, cloud account, or payment details.
  • Why: solely to prevent abuse of the free trial. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in preventing fraud (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)). It is never used for advertising, analytics, or tracking.
  • How long: the record is kept for as long as the app is offered, because its purpose is to recognise a device that has already used its trial. You can ask us to delete it at any time (see Your choices).

App integrity. The app uses Firebase App Check, which asks Google Play Integrity (Android) or Apple App Attest (iOS) to confirm that requests to the trial record come from the genuine Color Notes app. This check is handled by Google and Apple and does not share your notes or personal details with us.

07What we never do

  • No advertising and no ad SDKs.
  • No selling or sharing of your data with data brokers.
  • No tracking you across other apps or websites.
  • No server that collects your notes, name, or email address.

08Your choices

  • Delete local data: clear the app's data or uninstall it.
  • Delete cloud data: disconnect the provider in Settings, or remove the /ColorNotes/ folder from your drive.
  • Revoke access: remove Color Notes from your cloud account's connected-apps settings at any time.
  • Trial record & your GDPR rights: email amitchhatbar11@gmail.com to access, correct, or delete the trial record for your device, or to object to its processing. Deleting it does not restart the free trial. If you are in the EU/EEA or UK, you may also complain to your local data protection authority.

09Children

Color Notes is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them.
